President's Message
Paul Bishop, CAE

As I mentioned in April, it is truly honor to serving as the ISAE President. What we do in the Association world is truly unique and we should take pride in our roles of telling the stories of others in service to something that is usually greater than ourselves. Most of you do it while balancing professional and personal lives that are often intertwined given the intensely relational work we do.

It is my hope that through your membership in ISAE and ASAE you find the tools to help you grow both personally and professionally through educational conferences, webinars, and face-to-face events. This past year ISAE offered a number of online as well as in-person opportunities geared at providing you with real-life experiences that take theory into practice and the prospect of learning from others’ trials, tribulations, and accomplishments. The coming year is no different as Darcy Burnett is busy working on round-table events, the program committee, led by Michelle Dekker and Tiffany Conrad, has set an intriguing line-up of speakers and events, and our Emerging Leaders group, with Maggie Feldmann at the helm, is going gang busters and is open to all ages and experiences. Truly, our volunteers are doing their best to bring you great programming and experiences and I could not be more proud of their efforts.

The ALR – ISAE relationship is stronger than ever and their commitment to servicing our members has proven beneficial in terms of our programming and our finances. Our event experience is hopefully a richer one due to their support and expertise. Financially, we are as strong as ever as an organization and poised for another good year.

As with anything in life – you get out of it what you put into it. ISAE is no different. If you see an opportunity for change let us know or become a part of the change. Get involved. Volunteer. Serve your profession, and make a difference.

Thank you!
Paul D. Bishop, CAE

LEADERS JUST WANNA LEAD!!!

ISAE is gearing up for another exciting Leadership Class.

Not every manager is a leader and not every leader is a manager. A good association executive or staff person can be both—with the right training.

That’s where the ISAE Leadership Program comes into the equation. The ISAE Leadership Program is comprised of six strategic one-day programs over a six month period designed to instill in you the necessary qualities to not only provide stability to your organization, but also giving you confidence that instills trust in others so they choose to follow your leadership.

The following ISAE members have been accepted in to this year's Leadership Class that will run from October, 2018- March, 2019:

  •  Rachel Bennett, Iowa State Association of Counties
  • Maggie Feldmann, Iowa Bankers Association
  • Brad Hartkopf, Iowa Association of Business and Industry
  • Tom Healy, Association of Boards of Certification
  • Kristen Koenig, Iowa State Center
  • Mackenzie Nading, Iowa Wholesale Beer Distributors Association
  • Matthew Pitlick, Iowa Pharmacy Association
  • Randy Robinson, Iowa Turfgrass Institute
  • David Schaaf, Iowa Pharmacy Association
  • Andrew Standley, Diversified Management Services
  • Janelle Stevens, Iowa Motor Truck Association
  • Molly Stormer, Diversified Management Services

Best wishes to our new class of leaders!
