ISAE is considering kicking off an exciting new value opportunity based on an old ISAE concept; ISAE
provides value for association CEOs. And we are asking for your help to start the discussion.
ISAE has seen many changes over the years. ISAE was founded by and for the association executives -
hence the name “The Iowa Society of Association Executives.” At its founding, if you were not the exec
you had to be nominated for membership by your boss who was a member of ISAE and then your
membership was approved by the ISAE Board. If the executive director or CEO was not a member, other
staff personnel could not join.

We are not suggesting the changes ISAE has gone through were not for the better, but there is value
in examining our roots. ISAE needs to provide value to ALL our members regardless of their role in
their association, and that still includes providing value to the CEOs.  ISAE quarterly meetings need to be marketed to the broad ISAE membership, but ISAE has been asked to have a discussion on how we can enhance our value to our CEO members.

It has been suggested ISAE consider offering regularly scheduled meetings for CEOs only. A tentative
working name for the group has been floated as the CEO Forum. This group’s programs and activities
would be targeted to only ISAE CEOs and would provide a forum to exchange ideas, and to discuss
problems and solutions specific to CEOs in trade and professional associations. Below is a list of topics
our CEOS may want to discuss, but ultimately the subjects, the timing and the format would be
determined by the CEO Leadership Forum.

Thanks to Iowa Motor Truck Association there is such a thing as a free lunch.
Brenda Neville, the President of IMTA has graciously agreed to host a lunch for CEOs interested in
discussing the creation of the CEOs Forum. Brenda will lead the discussion to determine interest in
developing this Forum.

ISAE and IMTA will be hosting a meeting on Tuesday, December 3 at 11:30 a.m. at IMTA’s office
located at 717 E. Court Ave, Des Moines.

We are limiting attendance to approximately the first 15 CEOs who respond. We are hoping a
smaller group will encourage the exchange of ideas and provide an opportunity for open
discussion. ISAE intends on inviting a few association CEOs who are not members (yet) to receive
their input on how ISAE can enhance value to the association CEOs.
