Any association executive knows the secret to getting things done in associations is working effectively with the volunteer leaders. ISAE will be offering a one day program aimed at providing association executives the opportunity to bring their chief elected officers together to learn how to work together to accomplish the goals of the association.


The program is designed to give you the tools to set priorities for your association and to determine how best to work together in a strong volunteer-staff partnership.


You and your volunteer leaders will learn:

• What it takes to be an effective Board Member
• Effective Board and CEO relationships
• How to have the “ideal” Board meeting
• How to set mission driven priorities
• What to report…what not to report
• The importance of strategic planning
• Incorporating planning at every Board meeting
• Why Boards fail
• Legal responsibilities of Board members
• Five key questions all Board’s must address
• Meeting member needs – and through what means and measuring success
• Budgeting for action
• CEO Performance Evaluation
• Evaluating the Board
• Managing Volunteer Committees and Task Forces


ISAE members are encouraged to have a Board member attend this opportunity with them, but having a Board member attend the meeting is not required for registration.

Presenter: Michael Gallery, PhD, CAE

This exciting program will be facilitated by Michael Gallery, PhD, CAE of Dallas, Texas. He is the founder of Organizational Performance Improvement Systems (OPIS). Dr. Gallery combines 24 years of experience as an association executive with his academic training in human performance technology to bring clients expertise in strategic planning, team building, program evaluation, leadership training, staff and volunteer performance development and group facilitation.  Michael has a long history of leadership in the association management profession.

During his career, he has:          

• Authored more than 40 books, magazine, and journal articles
• Served on three different journal editorial boards
• Served on several boards of directors including the board of the Center for Association Leadership.
• Served on the CAE Commission and is a past chair
• Presented at over 50 national and international meetings
• Selected as an ASAE Fellow in 1999
• Awarded the Association Executive Excellence Award by the Texas Society of Association Executives
• Awarded honorary membership in ACEP --the highest award given to a non-physician.

 

Registration Information: Each Association may register their FIRST person for $225 then each additional person registered from the same association for a discounted rate of $150.
